Book Launch: “A Península Ibérica e o Norte de África (séculos XV a XVII): História e Património / The Iberian Peninsula and North Africa (15th to 17th centuries). History and Heritage”

IS-LE would like to call the attention to the following book launch: “A Península Ibérica e o Norte de África (séculos XV a XVII): História e Património / The Iberian Peninsula and North Africa (15th to 17th centuries). History and Heritage”, on the 9th of December, at FCSH NOVA.

This book that was coordinated by two IS-LE participants, Jorge Correia and André Teixeira, is a collection of studies arising from and / or inserted in themes related to the research project ‘Espaços e vivências do período português no Norte de África: cidades e vilas do “Algarve de Além-Mar” (séculos XV a XVII)’, with the acronym ESPANAFRI, developed between 2016 and 2019 by CHAM, the Humanities Center of the NOVA University of Lisboa and University of Azores, and by Lab2PT (Laboratory of Landscapes, Heritage and Territory of the University of Minho). This bilingual work gathers a set of contributions from Portuguese, Moroccan and Spanish researchers that derive from a transdisciplinary methodology crossing knowledge from archeology, architecture and history.

The planned program also includes the parallel release of the book “Entre les deux rives du Detroit de Gibraltar: archéologie de fronteires aux 14e-16e siècles / En las dos orillas del Estrecho de Gibraltar: arqueologia de fronteiras em los siglos XIV-XVI” presented by Santiago Macias.
